The Newest From Myles Lloyd: “One Sided”

Montreal-based up and coming R&B artist, Myles Lloyd, perfectly captures the human emotions that accompany vulnerability through his infectiously relatable new single, “One Sided.”  Over the past few years Lloyd has created a name for himself within the modern R&B scene. He has released multiple projects such as Forever Yours in 2022 and WHAT MORE CAN I SAY in 2024. More recently, Lloyd wrapped up 2025 with the drop of his album I’m Still Thinking, which highlights the potentially unspoken challenges and aspects of being a young artist in this day and age. As a result, Lloyd’s music leaves listeners  comforted in the inherent discomfort of feeling “too much” or overthinking. 

Myles Llyod is officially back on the music scene (did he ever really leave though?) with his newest single, “One Sided.” This particular track follows the general theme of Myles’ recent music and leaves listeners in positions of change and vulnerability feeling seen and understood. At its core, “One Sided” tells the story of being in a relationship that has grown unbalanced. The song explains the understandable human experience of a relationship or friendship that has dynamically changed and become “one sided.” The story is told from the point of view of the person who not only has experienced the dynamic of the relationship changing, but left with unreciprocated feelings. Lyrically, “One Sided”  is raw, relatable, and catchy. This is seen within both the main verse and chorus of the single:

When it’s cold outside put my jacket on your back for you

When I know you’re tired turn over and rub your back for you

When I pull up dimes you know imma roll the pack for you

But when I call you mine I don’t ever hear it back from you

The verse effectively conveys the sentiment that one person in the relationship is willing to go out of their way to make sure that their partner feels taken care of and comfortable, although their consideration isn’t reciprocated. 

I say I love you but you never say it back 

Told me that I’m the one but baby no I dont’ believe that 

You’re all that’s on my mind like every night but you don’t feel it

You don’t feel it 

You don’t feel it 

So one sided 

Everything I did for you was all done blindly 

The remainder of the verse leading into the chorus perfectly emulates what it feels like to be on the receiving end of someone’s words not matching their actions. 

Musically, “One Sided” features a unique combination of R&B and pop precision. Although a new release, the track brings feelings of nostalgia with its catchy beat and melodies. Additionally, “One Sided” takes an honest and vulnerable tone which in my book is a foundational part of appealing to listeners and fostering fan buy-in. I feel as though being in a one sided relationship or friendship is a common human experience that the majority of us can relate to. Arguably that is a rather depressing point to make, but all to say that listeners are left feeling understood by Myles and can even see themselves in his music. 

 “One Sided” is a rather smooth and low key track, meaning it can fit seamlessly into any playlists or current music rotations you’ve got going on. Do yourself a favor and either… 

1. Hop in your car with the windows down and listen to “One Sided.”

2. Throw in some headphones and go for a little main character walk and listen to “One Sided.”

The honesty, relatability, and groovy tone featured on this track will leave you feeling understood, deserving of more, and ready to take on whatever comes your way.
