“The Place Where I Feel Empowered to be Exactly Who I Am”: Welcome to Girl Noise

by Norah Jerinic-Brodeur

Girl Noise is a New York City based music festival created for girls, by girls. The organization was founded in 2025 by New York native singer/songwriter, Simone Lipkin (aka Simone). Growing up in New York, Simone was encouraged to be involved in the creative scene and fell in love with making music at a very young age. She started writing songs and performing when she was 10 years old, as an outlet for her to express her feelings in a way that was intuitive. Simone describes her connection with music as “something that has been at the forefront of my mind and personality and I just love making music more than anything.”
Like most teenage girls, Simone spent some of her formative years figuring out who she was as a person, but also trying to decide who she wanted to be as an artist. Simone began writing her first album (which will be released in 2027) at the age of 19. She’s really come into her own in the past couple of years throughout working on the project. This challenge provided Simone with the opportunity to explore exactly what she wanted to do by trusting her gut and ignoring outside opinions. The album writing and creation process allowed Simone to experience what it is like to work with people who not only see you as an equal, but value and appreciate your voice and opinions. Those feelings of appreciation and support in response to her upcoming record have inspired Simone to embrace the confidence to pursue her passions.
The concept of Girl Noise had been on Simone’s mind far before the festival’s official debut in June of 2025. What initially started as a project to foster a community of like-minded and supportive artists within the NYC music scene, has transformed into so much more. Being surrounded by women who believe in each other and uplift one another left Simone, and many other women, with a “...place where I feel empowered to be exactly who I am.” And so… Girl Noise was born.

Girl Noise’s third festival is just around the corner at New York’s iconic Bowery Ballroom on Sunday, October 4th. 100% of this show’s ticket proceeds support a local non-profit, The Brave House. The Brave House is committed to supporting young immigrant women in the city, specifically focusing on survivors of gender-based violence. The selflessness of the women at this organization is evident in their work, which is particularly important and relevant with the devastating events occurring around the world right now. Any and all forms of support of Girl Noise will directly support The Brave House, which is a relatively new non-profit. The festival on October 4th has the potential to raise $6,000 which would undoubtedly impact the inspiring work being done at The Brave House.
Not only will your ticket purchase positively affect the lives of women in the city, but you’ll also get to experience the incredible community that is Girl Noise. Everyone who attends these events are pure and genuine individuals. Not only that, but the festival calls to people who share similar values and understand the importance of community and taking action. This doesn’t stop at the fans. All of the artists on the lineup are unique in their music but share one thing in common; the passion and goodness in their hearts to support the cause. Whether it be making a new friend or discovering a new artist, there is truly something to gain for everyone here at Girl Noise. Most likely, you’ll leave the show with a sense of hope after experiencing the “we’re all in this together” mindset of the community. This show represents something that is bigger than any of us and by just being involved, you are making more of an impact that you may ever know.
