Brigitte Calls Me Baby- Irreversible: Album Review

2026 has started off with a bang for Chicago band, Brigitte Calls Me Baby. From just finishing supporting The Vaccines on their UK tour to now heading through Europe for a headline tour, they’ve released their second album, Irreversible, at a prominent time. 

The band consists of lead singer Wes Leavins, guitarists Jack Fluegel, bassist Devin Wessels, and Jeremy Benshish on drums.

Slumber Party, the lead single and track 2 on the new record, had been played live for almost 2 years before the band decided to release it in early January. The song and backing track feels familiar in a good way and sets the mood for the album. It creates the best mix into track 3 using a similar sound that I think works amazingly to storytell throughout the album.

Track 9, I Can’t Have You All to Myself , slows the album down with a beautiful slow ballad. As it still fits within the sound theme, it brings a completely different vibe towards the end of the album. The chorus develops into a heartfelt and bittersweet realisation, much different to the confidence from the earlier songs. I love how this carries on the love story of the album and the track following I Can Take the Sun out of the Sky, although up-beat, shows anxiousness through lyrics.

The contradiction of emotions throughout the album is what I feel makes this into a perfect record; the perfected transcripts of lyrics are paired with outstanding matching songs. Through the 38 minute album, you’re taken up and down with love and the brutality of a relationship, or less of. Irreversible allows you to dance your sadness with love away and Leavins can communicate that to the audience brilliantly.

This is a perfect album to show off their mature sound and music style and I am so excited for what's next for them.
