Brook Fox has just dropped his new single Rome into his discography, and it won’t disappoint the indie pop/rock fans. Filled with a soaring guitar sound and drums alongside powerhouse vocals, Rome is a classic indie tune.
Brook, an artist from South-West Wales, who started song-writing throughout the 2020 pandemic and has been steadily finding his sound since. With his last single Together being supported by BBC Radio Wales and landing itself on the Welsh A-List playlist twice, Brook has been steadily grounding himself in the music scene. Rome presents a heavier feel than his previous release Together while still keeping that indie sound.
The track begins with heavy strumming and quickly becomes layered with vocals that slowly build towards a chorus that bursts open. With the lyricism revolving around the survival of everyday love within an unsteady atmosphere Rome is ultimately about keeping loyalty to someone in an ever-dividing world. Brook’s vocals surge through the song letting you feel the emotion and intensity that is being offered. The backend of the song keeps pace with the energy of the chorus, with the instrumental pulling together the feelings that has been beating out since the first verse. My own personal highlight is the outro, with the track ending on a high only a good indie rock song can offer.
Rome is for fans that miss the classic indie rock sound. It has that electric feel to it that just makes you want to hit replay. Soon, it’ll be part of a larger collection with Brook’s debut EP Everybody’s in Love set to release on May 22nd, alongside the first show of his headline tour. Known for charged live performances, Rome will fit nicely within the setlist, sure to emulate the energy of the record.
