More WHATMORE: “On Site” Song Review

New York’s up and coming five-piece hip-hop/R&B group, WHATMORE, just released their newest single “On Site” on July 6th. The single release follows their drop of two singles, “Still Loiteringgg" and “2000s Pop Punk R&B”, on March 13th. The two singles, as a part of their “A-side/A-side” feature, have helped the band gain some serious traction. Both singles very quickly climbed their way to the top three of their most popular songs on Spotify. At this point we all know I am a biased WHATMORE fan, but I can’t say this surprises me. If you listen to both tracks you’ll understand why. 

That leads us to the boys’ latest drop; “On Site”. WHATMORE started teasing the new track about a week or two prior to the drop so luckily, us fans did not have to wait too long. Upon my first listen I was hooked. The song opens with Yoshi’s reoccuring catchy verse highlighted…(I don’t know about you but this has been stuck in my head all week, I’m not complaining though):

Rolling in the deep 

Cut the lights

Knocking down the door

Pay the price

Always go for more

That’s for life. 

Then, the bass cuts in with one of their toughest beats yet. I appreciate how the boys all have a verse on this track and not only that, but each verse highlights their individual talents and personalities. Sebastiano and Yoshi’s rap verses definitely take on more of that hip hop/R&B tone, while Jackson and Cisco’s come in the latter portion of the song where the breakdown occurs. This is the part of the song where Jackson’s guitar and both his and Cisco’s vocals are really appreciated. WHATMORE’s ability to leverage each other's strengths and individuality makes their music even more engaging and diverse.

The cover for “On Site” is split in half; one side contains a photo of them presumably performing at a festival for “On Site” while the other half is a photo of Yoshi with the title “Last Time”.  At this time the band have not mentioned anything about a new single on the horizon, but I would not be surprised if we were graced with another surprise drop in the near future. However, the boys have briefly teased spending lots of time in the studio recently, and fan speculation suggests more new music, and maybe even an album could be coming soon. 

The summer of 2026 has truly been the holy grail of new music drops and tour announcements. If you just so happen to be in the market for some new music to explore and add to those new release playlists of yours, I confidently recommend you take a listen to “On Site” by WHATMORE.
