Slayyyter brought her Missouri roots to the Ray Charles Terrace at the GRAMMY Museum on a warm Thursday night in Los Angeles. The highly anticipated event sold out in under a minute when tickets initially went on sale. Fans lined the streets of downtown L.A. with rabbit ears fixed on their heads, cutoff jean shorts, WGIA (WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA) hats, and full trashy rhinestone Slayyyter attire.

The event kicked off with a Q&A moderated by music journalist Tomás Mier. Slayyyter stepped onto the stage with her long blonde curls bouncing, wearing a silk corset and a sheer purple metallic mini dress. The conversation started with her album and everything that has happened since its release. She talked about some of the earliest songs written for the project, being launched into a new level of stardom after years of being an artist, her Coachella set, her upcoming tour, and the legacy she hopes to leave on the industry.

Slayyyter was very open throughout the conversation, especially when talking about how being an artist does not mean throwing away your own sense of self. I mean, she is still rhinestoning and DIYing some of her own outfits for her sold-out WOR$T GIRL IN THE WORLD Tour. After being in the industry for years and releasing multiple projects before this one, she truly feels like this is the album that shows who she is as an artist.

The Q&A ended with a couple of fan questions, followed by a short break before she transported the rooftop into her WGIA world.

The famous intro to her number one song on Spotify, “DANCE…,” began, and the entire crowd immediately stood up and cheered. Her vocals sounded almost exactly like the album recording as she sang into the mic. She followed it with “OLD TECHNOLOGY,” where the crowd got to hear the first verse twice because of an in-ear problem, which was honestly a blessing in disguise.

The audience really turned it up when she started “CRANK.” The rooftop floor was genuinely shaking from everyone jumping up and down. “CANNIBALISM!” came next, and when she did the vocal opt-up at the end, it sounded unreal live.

To close out the show, Slayyyter pulled out the debut single from WGIA, “BEAT UP CHANEL$,” and it was the perfect closer. She was shouting at the crowd, yelling out some of the verses, and giving everything she had left. The crowd gave that same energy right back to her. It was the kind of ending that leaves everyone standing around afterward with that post-concert high, wishing there was just one more song.
